On September 18, 2020, OCEM Power Electronics saw the successful end of the Site Acceptance Test of its equipment installed in the ISEPS power supply system, which is part of the experimental project called MITICA, hosted at the homonymous facility within the RFX headquarters in Padua under the supervision of Fusion for Energy (F4E).
After the success of the first installation, SPIDER, in 1:10 scale, this apparatus is a 1:1 scale prototype that will allow validating the technology and reliability of neutral beam injection plasma heating systems.
The next step for OCEM will be planning the installation of the equipment at ITER, the F4E experiment under construction in Cadarache, France.

The commissioning and validation activities, as well as the final SAT, were carried out despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, using a protocol for managing social distancing, hygiene, and personnel control, as well as the use of videoconferencing, which allowed several professionals, both from OCEM and from the RFX consortium, F4E, and ITER, to follow the works remotely.

This important milestone is a great success for OCEM Power Electronics and represents a small but important step towards the future of nuclear fusion-powered clean energy.
